Playing with YouTube and The Emerald Tablet

The Emerald Tablet by P J Hoover is set for release in the U.S.

The author a member of the 2K8, another group of authors doing it (marketing and promo) for themselves has made this video for promotion.
Her publisher, CBAY, has put it on her personal blog and it has probably gone everywhere you can think of to raise the profile of this new release.

Yup Trish, it's even being viewed in New Zealand. Congratulations!

I started this blog to learn about them and to try new things out...today just over six months later I have figured out how to post video...along the way I have learned lots of new things... I am looking at the 2 year old and wondering just what her world is going to be like in the future....
The brave new world is here -get out and enjoy it!

It's a great book trailer Trish...
How did you go about making it?
Was it hard to do?
and lots of other questions from
the awe struck authors at the bottom of the world

I read Feed recently by M. T. Anderson and hope our kids' futures are nothing like that! But maybe by the time they're older, your two year old and my four year old will be best friends via the internet. Who knows?

I love playing around with technology. For the video I collected the pictures from a stock photo site and the music from a free site. Each author in 2k8 did the same and then we paid someone to put them all together for consistency. If you search classof2k8 over on Youtube, you can see tons of cool book trailers (though I have to say I'm partial to mine).

I'm so excited my video is being viewed in New Zealand! How cool is that! It's just so international :)

Thanks so much, Maureen!

Hi Trish,
You are very welcome!
Today I was at a sub group meeting planning for the National Conference of Children's Writers and Illustrators (our first conference in fifteen years and I'm co convening it) and the subject of blogs came up and that in our country of great children's writers 40% of whom write for the american educational market... very few of us have any web presence at all...and shouldn't we do a workshop on blogging and online promotion...and I told the group about the surreal experience of thinking about the author of The Emerald Tablet and at the same time the U.S. author was posting a comment to my blog about the video trailer for her book... of course the lightbulbs switched on and the fantasy began... wouldn't it be great if PJ Hoover was taking a holiday in say.. oh... the middle of September next year in Wellington, New Zealand... oh look there is a National Conference of Children's Writers and Illustrator's...maybe she could share her experiences in the brave new world...
Oh well, that's why we're fiction writers...

teeheeheeheehee.

LOL! If I sign the tons-o-money book contract, consider it a date :)
And trust me - nothing would make me happier!

LOL back...
We're all waiting for the big money contracts so we can go to a conference....

The distances are too great so the cost becomes prohibitive. That's why a bunch of us got together and said 'Let's hold one ourselves...'

So 18,19,20th September 2009 is the date. We are planning workshops, forums, speakers, and classes in business practice, upskilling across the industry, international markets, new technology...agents...very few of us have one as the NZ market is so small...

So sending good vibes your way for the major success of The Lost World's Trilogy'...and a few good vibes scattered around here as well...because we have some great authors here that it would be nice to share with the rest of the world...
